Extra Supplies!

When you are working on your crochet animal pattern it is important to keep in mind the extra supplies you will need. Some of the most common extra supplies that are needed are fillers, safety eyes, and yarn needles.

Fillers are needed to stuff your creation as you are going or near the end. This will give the project a full and lively look. Since 100% polyester fiber fill does not retain water after being cleaned and dried, it is the best material to use. Remember that a single bag goes a long way! Make sure to correctly stuff your creation. If you overstuff, filling could leak through and if you under stuff your little animal may go limp.

Safety Eyes are added to all the patterns that are listed below. Each pattern will specify the size of safety eyes that is recommended for that animal. If you want to go bigger or smaller that is an acceptable choice that can be made. Using plastic washer backings, you add the safety eyes once you've almost done crocheting the head. Beads or embroidered eyes made of yarn can be used as safety eye substitutes.

Yarn Needles are important for connections and if there are any embroidery elopements in your pattern. These needles are used to sew the amigurumi body pieces together. When you have completed crocheting your item, you should weave (hide) any stray yarn ends into your stitches so that they help prevent your creation from unraveling. A yarn needle is the tool that is needed. It frequently has a rounded end and a broader eye rather than being sharp and pointed like a typical sewing needle.

Lions, Tigers, and Bears Oh My!

Not only are there lions, tigers, and bears but many more animals that may make you exclaim oh my!
